Shri Prabhu Dayal Khandelwal founded Chandra Vilas in 1947, the year of Indian independence. His Rajasthani Mixture, a blend of 14 different namkeens in fixed proportions, was recognised by the Government of Rajasthan in 1950 and remains our best seller today.
The business is now in its fourth generation, run by Govind Narayan and Naveen Khandelwal. The recipes have not changed. We still fry in groundnut or cottonseed oil, never palm oil.

Dry namkeen travels well. Sealed packs keep for one to two months, and longer if unopened and kept away from humidity. If you are flying, pack it in checked baggage rather than hand luggage where possible, and keep pickles sealed and upright.
